Not Just
Homeless.
Graphic design, individual voice, and advocacy.
The inquiry
How can a designer work with people who are routinely seen as a category rather than as individuals? The project investigates representation, agency, and the responsibilities of design advocacy.
The work
A 160-page thesis brings together writing, visual communication, community collaboration, and reflection. Projects include collaborative handprints, individual messages, and a survival guide.
The perspective
This research connects my professional design practice with my approach to teaching: listen closely, examine assumptions, and understand the people affected by the work.
The collaboration in motion.
Footage from the community collaboration documented in the thesis, showing participants making and sharing work together.

The thesis includes contributions from community participants, photographers, artists, and editors, acknowledged in the original book.
